| Position Your Website in the Search Engines Think about this...When you're looking for something online, how do you start? If you're like more than 80% of all web surfers, you probably begin your online journey at any of the major search engines or directories, like Google, Yahoo, MSN and others. Search Engine Optimization Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is a way of writing and building your site so that the search engines rank it highly. It includes making sure your web content uses the right keywords for which web browsers might search, which we accomplish by keyword analysis. It means including these keywords in your page title and developing meta tags that the search engines look for but are hidden within your web pages' source code...as well as many other professional optimization techniques. Payments may range from five cents and upward, depending on how competitive your selected keywords are. Pay Per Inclusion Website Listings Some web search sites offer businesses the opportunity to be listed in their search engine or directory for a flat fee. Yahoo! for example, charges $299 for what they call an “Express Listing” in their popular directory. However, the $299 fee does NOT guarantee you will be listed on their site. All is does is guarantee that an editor will review your request to be listed in a timely manner, usually three to four business days. Another popular pay per inclusion site is Inktomi, recently purchased by Yahoo! Inktomi will charge your business $39 per year for a listing; a very good deal since Inktomi listings also appear on MSN, Hotbot and other search sites. When you pay for inclusion, you're guaranteed that your site will be entered into the database usually within 48 hours.
